PCR Assays developed at WVDL help identify cause of death of bison

The cause of death of a bison at the Irvine Park Zoo in Chippewa Falls was recently solved by Dr. Jones by using one of the diagnostic PCR assays developed at WVDL.  Blood from the  bison tested positive for  malignant catarrhal fever (MCF) an uncommon but deadly disease in bison.
