Streptococcus equi equi and Equine herpesvirus type 1 (EHV-1) PCR panels
The WVDL has reinstated testing for Strep equi equi and EHV-1 as of 1/30/23. WVDL has worked very hard to improve our assays and samples will no longer be referred to other locations. WVDL appreciates your patience while working through these assay improvements.
Discontinuation of Equine Colitis Panels
The WVDL is discontinuing the equine colitis standard and neonate real time PCR panels as of 11/23/22. The PCR testing for Neorickettsis risticii, Rhodococcus equi, Salmonella spp, and Lawsonia intracellularis can still be order as individual PCR assay.
- We recommend sending samples directly to alternative laboratories that perform equine colitis testing. If you are unsure of an appropriate laboratory to send these samples to, please contact the WVDL and we will be happy to discuss available options.
