Wisconsin Horse Tests Positive for EIA

Wisconsin’s first cases of EIA in 15 years have been confirmed by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP). This notice follows the news earlier this month of Wisconsin’s first case of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE). Both DATCP and the UW have issued releases regarding these cases.

  • DATCP Release: The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) confirms that a horse and a mule on the same premises in Taylor County have tested positive for equine infectious anemia (EIA). These are Wisconsin’s first confirmed cases of EIA in almost 15 years.
