We welcome visitors who wish to communicate directly with a staff person. Please phone the lab (or just stop in) to request a meeting. Every effort will be made to accommodate you.

The lab uses advanced technology and information systems to aide in communication. We hope that our telephone and voice mail systems easy to use. Our receptionists are glad to assist you. FAX and e-mail are sometimes the best way to make sure your communication arrives in a timely way. Please check the Locations page for all our addresses and numbers.

We strive to communicate with you in a number of ways. These web pages are but one example. On occasion, we may wish to send a mailing through the U.S. Postal system. Please contact the Madison lab to get yourself on the mailing list.

Additionally, we continue to implement refinements in the manner we communicate test results. More customers are now using our e-mail and FAX options for sample receipt notification, preliminary, and final results. E-mail has many advantages over FAX, so we encourage our customers to investigate this option.

We do not mail paper copies of result reports automatically. Each customer can choose only one method of communication; e-mail, fax or USPS mail (no fee).

There is a $5.00 handling fee per accession to have test results mailed to you via USPS.

A Statement Regarding Ownership of Specimens:

Specimens submitted to the Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (WVDL) must be accompanied by a completed WVDL submission form. Use of this submission form signifies acceptance of a contract with the WVDL for test results and interpretation of results. Specimens submitted to the WVDL and isolates derived from them become the property of the WVDL. WVDL maintains the right to refer a portion of the specimen to an appropriate laboratory for additional testing.  WVDL also maintains the right to use the specimens for any lawful purpose, including but not limited to performing applied research and test development.

Electronic Submission of Accession Details:

WVDL now provides a template Excel spreadsheet that makes it possible for clients to electronically provide details for submissions. This can be very helpful for DVM’s and clinic staff as well as the WVDL. In prototyping this feature we have found it eliminates many data entry errors and saves hours of time spent both by both submitters and the lab, especially on larger submissions.
