CONTAGIOUS EQUINE METRITIS
For the latest information regarding the recent CEM investigations go to http://www.aphis.usda.gov/newsroom/hot_issues/cem/index.shtml
The WVDL currently doesn’t perform the culture for Taylorella equigenitalis (CEM agent), but a list of USDA-approved labs is available at http://www.aphis.usda.gov/animal_health/lab_info_services/approved_labs.shtml
We recommend that you contact the selected lab prior to collecting and submitting specimens. Because the test must be started within 48 hours of collection, timing is critical and shipping overnight directly to the testing laboratory is a must.
